  • I need web developers

    Jan 14 2009

I'm in need of a few good developers. I've put up a job posting at Authentic Jobs, PHP Web Developer / Project Manager:

(Anywhere) I'm looking for an individual (no teams) to help me lead web development projects. I need someone with lots of experience giving quotes and managing projects with other developers involved.

You will be coding in the trenches, and need to be a master of PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other web technologies.

You should have a ton of experience with software development. You must write elegant code and be able to architect and implement beautiful, uncoupled, well tested software.

You should be a web standards advocate, be familiar with unobtrusive techniques and understand the importance of creating high-quality, accessible web sites and applications.

Your English should be impeccable and professional, both spoken and written.

I need someone that can be available to work up to 30 hours per week, and be committed to helping out over the long term.

If this sounds like you, and you want to take a lead on exciting web development projects, please contact me with the following stuff:

    1. Your hourly rate
    2. Your resume
    3. Your location
    4. Your weekly availability
    5. Your work experience
    6. Your expertise
    7. Type of projects you enjoy most

If you'd like to work with me on cool projects, please contact me here.

I'm often wondering about the job-ads for webmonkeys and other tech people.
They seem very nice at first glance, but requirements is often sky high. It seems everybody is expecting (or maybe hoping for) the perfect guy.

    You mention:
    - good management and lead skills
    - lot of experience
    - really experienced teamplayer
    - someone who master PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and 'other web technologies' (like what? Soap? Ajax?)
    - someone humble enough to "work in the trenches" (taking blame I guess)
    - ton of experience with software development
    - Write elegant code
    - good architect who can implement beautiful, uncoupled, well tested software
    - web standards advocate
    - be familiar with unobtrusive techniques
    - to understand the importance of creating high-quality, accessible web sites and applications.
    - impeccable and professional english (both spoken and written)
    - availability for up to 30 hours/week
    - commitment

In other words, you need a highly committed working bee, who is skilled with LAMP development and websolutions - of course with much experience in modern web technologies.
The dude must have an excellent understanding of modern bussiness-needs and therefore too management skills for high-quality, accessible web sites.
Also he should either be english or living in England, given the need for explaining and understanding the technical and professional terms.

In my oppinion, it's a pity that most companies aim for so high needs, that they exclude so very many potential talents - even from before interviews.

I cant master a truly high level of PHP / MySQL, but I can make w3-compliant, accessible websites and make use of e.g. ajax.
Im no expert architect, but I plan my databases, classes, api's, etc. Not in details, but to keep the needed overview.
Im no bussiness-man (obviously), but I understand the need for $$ and a real bussiness-plan.
Im not aware of my team/social skills, but people around (in current job) tends to understand me and instantly recognise my thoughts.

Am I good enough for the job? I think not, but others may think so.
    But it doesnt matter.

With all the required needs, Im not going to apply.

    Best regards,
    loyal anonymous reader

Anyone can apply! I'm just describing my ideal candidate, as are all job postings really. We're all hoping to find the best of the best.

But basically if you're good at coding, you have a lot of availability, you're fun to work with and you'd like to work with me, please get in touch! I've had a flood of responses, but who knows, maybe you've got a little something extra that grabs my attention.

I feel I can handle the job , I mean I had no problem with the list you made , but there is two issue:

1 - I am In a third world country. Is this an online position or i must attend somewhere 30 hours per week?

2 - as you see my English is not professional .

    7. Jesse Skinner at 8:56am on January 25, 2009

@nima - This is a remote-working position, so it doesn't matter where you are living.

For this project management position, professional perfect English is important. However, if you are very experienced and skilled with web technologies, and have good communication skills, there may still be a need for your help outside of this position.

I'd be happy to do something part-time as well.
    Located in Indiana USA

I can email a portfolio upon request, and I would have added my email here, but it sort of seems...empty in here...echo!
